in perhaps the seventh time in less than two years, windsor police have busted a downtown magic mushroom business that keeps sprouting back up on ouellette avenue.
in the latest crackdown at the now-familiar location, officers with the windsor police service’s drugs and guns unit executed a search warrant wednesday at a commercial storefront in the 300 block of ouellette avenue.
investigators said almost $30,000 in illegal drugs was seized from the dispensary that sells illegal psilocybin products.
police said they confiscated 217 bags of dried psilocybin, commonly known as magic mushrooms, 94 containers of psilocybin tablets, 55 psilocybin chocolate bars, 36 packages of psilocybin gummy bears, six dimethyltryptamine (dmt) vapes, six containers of dried psilocybin and $600 cash.
a 33-year-old employee was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
since july 2023, officers have repeatedly raided the same storefront location, seizing in excess of $200,000 worth of psilocybin-infused products.
in response to the downtown windsor business that openly sells magic mushrooms, city police vowed in july 2023 to hold “criminally accountable” anyone in possession of or trafficking in outlawed substances.
