a four-legged windsor police k9 officer helped track down and capture a suspect who moments earlier is alleged to have brandished a loaded firearm.
police responded to a weapons call tuesday evening outside a downtown apartment building.
witnesses said a person with a handgun pointed it at another individual outside of an apartment building in the 1600 block of ouellette avenue. police said the suspect and another person then fled eastbound on foot.
with k9 officer link and his handler in hot pursuit, they didn’t get very far. the suspects were tracked to the 1600 block of goyeau street where they were arrested without incident, according to police.
a loaded 9mm handgun was recovered at the scene.
a 45-year-old man now faces several firearm charges including pointing a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a restricted firearm without holding a licence, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, and carrying a concealed weapon.
the second suspect was released without charges.
