essex county opp said tuesday they have determined that foul play was not a factor in the death of a toddler last week in tecumseh.
police said a call came in around 5:30 p.m. on thursday, april 23, about a three-year-old who was found unresponsive at a home on chornoby crescent in tecumseh.
officers with essex county ontario provincial police were sent out to assist essex-windsor emergency medical services (ems) and tecumseh fire and rescue services.
police said first responders administered life-saving measures, which were ultimately unsuccessful. provincial police said that emergency response sparked a “sudden death investigation.”
the essex county opp crime unit assisted in an investigation conducted by the office of the chief coroner.
at the time, investigators said there was no threat to public safety, but that residents should expect to see an increased police presence in the area.
essex county opp said tuesday that the probe is now complete, and investigators determined the child’s death was not suspicious.
police said they will no provide any further updates on the case.
