a 27-year-old lasalle man is facing a criminal driving charge after a close call with a pedestrian on a sidewalk.
lasalle police said they received numerous calls wednesday just before 4:30 p.m., about a male riding a dirt bike on matchett road.
the callers said the driver, wearing a silver helmet and riding a blue motorcycle or dirt bike, allegedly almost struck an elderly female pedestrian on a sidewalk.
officers located the individual, who they said was operating a street-legal dirt bike.
the man was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
the investigation continues.
police are asking residents in the area of malden road, between sandwich secondary school and golfview drive, to check video or dash cam surveillance between 4:25 and 4:45 p.m. for video of the described motorcyclist.
