city police arrested 14 people and laid 22 charges in the most recent multi-day operation targeting a troubled downtown windsor neighbourhood.
from thursday to saturday, members of the problem-oriented policing unit partnered with the windsor essex community housing corporation in an initiative focused on apartment buildings in the glengarry neighbourhood.
over those three days, police said, officers executed 10 outstanding arrest warrants in the area, took 14 into custody, and laid multiple charges, including trespassing, theft under $5,000, and eight counts of failure to comply with a release order.
the arrests, police said, “are the latest step in a high-visibility initiative by the windsor police service and community partners to enhance public safety and quality of life in the glengarry neighbourhood.” that initiative has seen the stationing of police officers, and health and human services professionals in the area, which “has faced consistent challenges due to crime and social disorder.”

“at the same time, we remain focused on collaborating with our community partners to provide essential resources and long-term support services.
