a woman is charged after she allegedly drunkenly stole a marked security vehicle and fled police in whitby.
durham regional police say that around 1:40 a.m. monday, officers responded to a stolen vehicle in progress call at 625 victoria st. e., in the hwy. 401 and brock st. area.
officers were told “an unidentified woman had stolen a marked security vehicle and fled the scene.”
police say they “quickly located the vehicle nearby and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, however she refused to comply.
“as the vehicle slowed for a red light, officers successfully boxed it in and arrested the woman without incident. upon removing her from the vehicle, officers determined she was also impaired by alcohol.”
jessica pomerleau, 40, of quebec, is charged with theft of motor vehicle, operation while impaired, flight from peace officer, mischief/damage property under $5,000, and operation while impaired – exceed blood alcohol concentration.
she was held for a bail hearing.
