pedestrian dead after being struck by surrey police cruiser; iio investigating

the independent investigations office of b.c. is investigating after a surrey police cruiser struck and killed a female pedestrian on christmas morning.
surrey police confirmed it notified b.c.’s civilian police oversight agency about the incident in the 10800 block of 132 street, which happened at around 6 a.m.
police tape could be seen cordoning off a portion of the chevron gas station at the intersection of 108 avenue and 132 street. evidence markers and items of clothing could be seen on the ground.
the pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and died in hospital.
the iio confirmed it sent investigators to the scene, but declined to release more details.
the surrey police service said it will provide more information soon.
this is the second incident this month in which a surrey police cruiser was involved in a fatal collision with a pedestrian. a female pedestrian was struck and killed on dec. 14 at the intersection of 152nd street and 64th avenue.
