shots fired at surrey business, home in two separate extortion-related shootings

police are investigating two overnight extortion-related shootings in surrey.
the first incident occurred at a cloverdale business in the 5400-block production boulevard at around 12:49 a.m. monday.
several shots were fired at the business, which was empty at the time. no injuries were reported.
this is the second time the complex has been targeted. on march 23, another business in the same complex was shot at, said police.
in the second overnight shooting, shots were fired at a newton home in the 12300-block 77a avenue, at approximately 1:45 a.m.
police observed bullet holes in both the home and a car parked out front. no one was injured.
the shootings come as extortion shootings had slowed down in the first quarter of the year after a spike in cases in recent months. as of early march, surrey has recorded 60 extortion threats, including eleven which involved shootings.
anyone with information about either shootings is asked to contact the surrey police service at 604-599-0502.
