interest-based advertising

healthing,ca gathers information about how you interact with our services online, including details about the device you’re using, your general location (such as city or region), and basic demographic information. this data helps us deliver advertising that’s relevant to your interests. we may also personalize ads by using insights from our advertising partners based on your activity on other websites and apps, known as “interest-based advertising.”

how to opt-out

you have the option to opt-out of interest-based advertising through the digital advertising alliance of canada’s adchoices tool.

to understand more about interest-based advertising and how to use the opt-out tool, visit youradchoices.ca. if you have any questions or want to check on the status of your opt-out request, feel free to reach out to corporateprivacyofficer@postmedia.com.

the following is more information about healthing’s practices for interest-based advertising.

interest-based advertising

healthing.ca may deliver personalized advertising on and off our platforms based on your online activities across different websites and apps, also known as interest-based or online behavioral advertising. for more information on opting out, please see the section “opting-out of interest-based advertising.”

healthing.ca and third-party advertising partners, such as ad networks, may use cookies, pixels, sdks, and similar technologies to gather information about your activities on our sites and apps and across third-party platforms, including web pages you visit and your interactions with ads and other content.

this information helps to predict your preferences, create customized content, and deliver ads that are more relevant to you across devices and platforms. it may also be used to assess the performance of our advertising campaigns.

opting-out of interested-based advertising

in line with our commitment to fair information practices, healthing.ca participates in the digital advertising alliance of canada’s (daac) adchoices program, adhering to its principles. this initiative allows you to opt-out of interest-based advertising. for details, visit youradchoices.ca.

web and mobile browsers: you can opt-out of receiving interest-based ads on your desktop or mobile browser by clicking the “adchoices” icon in the top right corner of our site, which will open the “interest-based advertising” screen with a link to the daac tool. this tool provides a list of third-party advertising companies participating in the daac’s self-regulatory program for online interest-based advertising and currently collecting data from your browser for targeted advertising. you can also access the tool here.

the adchoices icon may also appear in or around advertisements on healthing.ca’s website, indicating tailored ads. you can opt out of targeted advertising from that specific advertiser by clicking the "adchoices" logo within the ad.

mobile apps: you can opt-out of interest-based advertising within your mobile app via your device settings, which vary by device. for more information, visit www.networkadvertising.org/mobile-choices. daac also offers an appchoices tool for opting out, available for download here.

important notes about opting-out

opting out of interest-based advertising from healthing.ca or third parties may still result in data collection for other purposes, such as analytics, and you may continue to see ads from us across the internet; however, these ads will not be tailored to your interests.

opt-outs for interest-based ads on web browsers function through cookies saved in your browser, signaling to ad partners that you have opted-out. for mobile devices, opt-outs work by sending an opt-out signal to ad partners. to stop interest-based ads across devices and browsers, you must opt out on each browser and mobile device separately.

if you clear your browser’s cookies, you’ll need to re-opt-out. for more details on interest-based advertising on desktop, mobile browsers, or apps, please visit the daac website at youradchoices.ca.
